Pan Theater

(Katie, Jeff and Rachel Pan - 2011)

LISA`S IMPROV FROM THE HEART EXPERIENCE

1) What was the obstacle that would have kept you from taking IFH?

Family plans with kid activities

2) What did you find as a result of taking IFH?

I learned new acting techniques that I can use in any future theater I do (I hope/plan to be in community theater productions in the future, when I have more time), I had fun, and I really enjoyed the improv format.

3) What did you like most about IFH?

Freeze tag improv and two people sitting in chairs improv (who, where, emotion).

4) What benefits did you get out of taking IFH?

I really enjoyed having 3 full hours to do something for myself and found during those three hours I was not stressed about family stuff, job stuff, etc--it was really time for me.

5) Would you recommend IFH? If so, why?

Yes. Human beings cannot thrive in isolation.

We need groups to help us know how to be in the world, how to respond and support each other, and to understand who we are as individuals.

This class is about being humble, being vulnerable, being brave, and being seen. It is great 'rehabilitation' for anyone who felt impacted by the years of isolation. It's also great for actors and artists of all levels to deepen their curiosity about human nature, fine tune their sensitivity to emotions and experiences, and any performer who is interested in becoming more honest in their work.

6) About you:

My name is Lisa Sullivan-Cross, I live in Oakland, I am Head of Growth Marketing/Analytics at Pinterest, I have a wife and three kids ranging in ages from 11-17, I have taken four previous acting classes over the past 10 years but this was my first improv class.
