“Much deeper understanding about edits and how they drive the art.
“Mostly it refreshed my awareness what areas I need to work on. I also learned some new things, e.g. placing space objects and other aspects of the setting. I also had more practice in letting scenes develop without trying to rush things, but also working on not hesitating in scenes. Also taking time to listen to others in the scene before acting (partners have let me know I cut off scenes too quickly, etc.)”
“I need to "physically" " prepare beforehand in order to fully participate in Improv.
I learned how to edit better and more confidence on stage.”
“I learned a lot about what I need to do to strengthen my weaknesses. Some of my personal hesitations in interacting with players on stage. I learn that it is alright to push some boundaries on stage for example breaking personal space. It comes from more personal sensibilities about being polite. In order to grow as an improvisor I see that breaking some of societies boundaries on stage is perfectly acceptable.
It was great to get back on stage again and work in-person “
“Doing intensive work with the same people over an extensive period like that is very helpful – things get more firmly cemented in your mind”
“Pairing off and doing mutual feedback was new and very useful (also a timesaver over giving group notes)”
“The content of the workshop was also useful – lots of types of edits and transitions. Lots of ways to move forward”
“I can push through obstacles, distractions and set backs”
“I feel more aware of my improv style, the tools accessible to build more profound and real stories, and how to better support my fellow actors. I feel more confident and connected with” the art of improv. It was a really beautiful experience, and I hope we'll do more of it.
“I found a much greater ease with doing swing outs, cut-tos, and a variety of edits. The workshop also helped me understand and get comfortable with the frenetic energy of a montage scene”
